Have your kids collect containers such as coffee cans, watering cans, or even old rain boots. Let your kids fill the containers with soil and then plant either seeds, or small starter plants from the local nursery. Teach your kids how to keep the soil moist, and let them enjoy watching their gardens grow. Once their vegetables have matured, help them pick their crops and turn them into a tasty salad that they can enjoy.

Create Clay Impressions

There are so many different things that kids can learn from while exploring the world. To help your kids get a better view of the things around them, teach them how to make simple clay molds. You can purchase clay at any craft and hobby shop. Once you have the clay, let your kids go outside and collect items to create molds of, such as rocks, wood, and even leaves. Help your kids roll the clay out, and then watch as they press their collected objects into the clay. Once they've made the initial impressions, allow the clay to air dry. They'll be able to see all the different designs in the clay impressions they create.

Take a Trip to the Beach

Now that it's summer, plan a trip to the beach. Your kids will be able to feel the sand under their feet, and watch the water wash up to shore. If you don't live close to the beach, you can create one in your own back yard. Purchase a small child's wading pool, and fill it with clean play sand. Build up a shore line on one end of the pool. Now, slowly fill the pool with water while your kids stand on the sand. As you pour the water into the pool, your kids will feel the sand move under their feet.
